Jul 1997 22:13:05 Hi: I am attempting to locate data on a Mrs. James Pope that died and her obit is listed in "Cheyenne Wyo. Daily Leader" 11 Nov. 1891. she died in Sept of 1891. I would be interested in information on either this wife (with no name) and James Pope. I am curious if there is a record of guardianship of the 7 children, that she left. Do you know what railroad was operating at that time. Burlington or N.P. I wrote to the St. Mark Espiscopal church, but they did not have the time to look in old records. The Coroners office sent me a list of the cemetery complex, which dates back to 1800, but she was not buried there. I am open to suggestions where to write about either of these people. James Pope, is who I am searching, but thought I might find something about him, with the data of hers. |

| Karon Mazie Sun, 20 Jul 1997 10:36:22 I just heard that my Grandfather, Emmett Cramer was "in charge of the cowboy Ball in Cheyenne Wyoming several times" He had lived in Otero County Colorado, near Timpas, La Junta, and Rocky Ford, and had moved to Yakima Washington about 1919, and it sounds like this was after he moved to Yakima. It says he still had some association with his former life as a cowboy and was in charge of the Cowboy Ball . This information was typed up by my cousin Penny, after talking to her Dad who is now passed away. She says there are tickets to the event in the family picture album, but she is not sure who has the album. I live in Okanogan Washington, and have no idea how to go about researching this, can anyone give me some clues? Thank you for any help you can give. Karon Mazie |

| Jerry Sisler Sun Jun 29 20:26:31 1997 Does anyone have any information on the Parks Party Wagon Train that was camped near Fort Laramie, we suppose in Laramie County in June of 1852? My great great grandparents, Henry R. Allison and his wife, Mary Jane Rundell Allison died, she on the 2nd of June and he on the 4th of June at that campsite. We are told by relatives that they died of cholera. They left two small daughters who were adopted by two families. One child was raised in the Los Angeles area of California, and the other in the San Jose area of California. There are two publications that give information about the wagon train and the deaths of the Allisons, but we can find no library that has copies of these publications. One is "Journal of an Ox Team Driver While Crossing the Plains 'En Route' for California via Independence, Laramie and Karson Valley" by William Wagner. The other is "Crossing the Plains" by John C. Thorniley. We were told that the original copy of this last publication was held by Haley Library, Midland, Texas. We have contacted this library, and they say they have no knowledge of this publication. We would like to find where we could see copies of either or both of these publications. Thanks. |

| Alice Owens Tue Apr 22 17:58:36 1997 Desperately seeking any information on Indian family named BUFFALO. Chawa "Chief" BUFFALO, son of Chief Buffalo 13th, married in 1950 in Charlottesville, Virginia, stated on marriage application he was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was 31 in 1950, so birth date circa 1919. Chief is my stepfather and now deceased. He told many tales, some of which I believe may have had a smattering of truth, and we would now like to know about his ancestry. He was in WWW II and worked on ranches in Texas after the war. He was also in the Northwest, perhaps Washington State between 1945-50. He said he was Cheyenne, but we found a little brass disc that had HOOPA Reservation on it and a number, but that tribe would not help me. They are in northern California and said his name was not HOOPA, and would not offer any suggestions. Chief said he attended a Catholic school for Indians, possibly middle or high school. Thanks! P.S. I volunteer in Central Virginia for lookups, contact me if you need help here. |

1997 Owen McKay and his wife Mary came to Cheyenne about 1870-1873 (their daughter Kate was born in Cyeynne in 1873) They were shown on the 1880 census with nine children & Owen was 44,his occupation was a clerk. In 1905 Cheyenne City Directory, Mary McKay was shown as the widow of Owen. I need a death date in order to request a death record of both Owen and Mary. Their funeral service was held at St. Mary's Cathedral. |

| Micael Olsson Thu Jan 16 13:44:18 1997 Hi, I'm doing research on two men that left Sweden in 1911. I think I've found one of them in a passengerlist, but they should both have gone with the same boat... Facts: Name: Nolén, Peter (Nolen with an ecute above the e, which he probably lost in the states!) Born: 17 Jan 1882. Emigrated from Resele parish. The boat left from the harbour in Gothenburg 15 Feb 1911. Destination: Laramie. He left with his brother: Nolén, Jonas Hansens, born 4 Apr 1886. If you know anything about them, please let me know! |
